Dr. Robert Costanza

Father of Ecological Economics

Dr. Robert Costanza is currently a Professor and Chair in Public Policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University, Senior Fellow at the Stockholm Resilience Center and founding editor in chief of Solutions Journal. Dr. Costanza’s transdisciplinary research integrates the study of humans and the rest of nature to address research, policy and management issues at multiple time and space scales, from small watersheds to the global system. he is also the co-founder and past-president of the International Society for Ecological Economics, and was chief editor of the society’s journal, Ecological Economics from its inception in 1989 until 2002. He is a Master at the De Tao Academy in China, and co-founder of the De Tao Institute of Green Investing. He is a co-founder of the Alliance for Sustainability and Prosperity.
